Revival of Siberian History
RODINA Grand Hotel & SPA Irkutsk 5* is located in the restored historic building of Kurbatov and Rusanov Bathhouses, with unique architecture of the early XIX century.
This is not just a hotel, but a new milestone in the history of Irkutsk’s architectural monuments. These legendary Bathhouses appeared on Tsesovskaya embankment of Irkutsk in the XIX century thanks to philanthropist Vladimir Sukachev, and a few years later he, being the mayor of the city, handed them over to Nikolay Kurbatov and Grigory Rusanov. The Bathhouses were equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology. Even before the first city power station appeared, there had already been electricity here. The bathing complex was very popular among Irkutsk residents both before the 1917 Revolution and in the Soviet years. The magnificent interior decoration, spacious premises, comfortable rooms and dry steam caused delight among visitors. For most city residents, visiting the Kurbatov Bathhouses was a good family tradition. In the 1990s, the Bathhouses closed down, the building became dilapidated.Now the Kurbatov and Rusanov Bathhouses are the largest completed restoration project among the cultural heritage sites of Irkutsk.
